The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to set up a well-equipped Joint Security Task Force to operate along the border lines between Katsina, Kaduna and Kano States with a view to preventing bandits from penetrating into Kano state.
The call become necessary as bandits fleeing offensive military operations in Zamfara and Katsina have started launching attacks on communities in Rogo and Karaye local government areas of Kano state.

Daily Telescope gathered that the call followed a motion on matters of urgent public importance moved by the member representing Rogo/Karaye federal constituency of Kano State, Alhaji Haruna Isah Dederi (APC, Kano).
Presenting the motion, Dederi explained that following the ongoing military operations against banditry in Zamfara and Katsina states, the bandits have started fleeing into other states including Kano state for their nefarious activities.

“In the last few weeks, the bandits have attacked Jajaye, Zarewa, Ruwan Bago, Bari, Falgore, Dutsen Ban and Hawan Gwamna communities in Rogo local government. They have kidnapped scores of people including women and most of the kidnapped persons are still in captivity. The bandits are demanding several millions of Naira for their release,” he lamented.
Dederi recalled that, he brought a motion earlier in March, 2020, seeking for proactive measures to check the likely infiltration of bandits into the border Local Govt Areas of Kano State which was agreed to by the House.

He therefore called on the federal government to put in effective measures to consolidate the gains made by the military in the ongoing operations in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger and other states by protecting neighboring states from attacks.
Daily Telescope learnt that Rogo and Karaye Local Government Areas of Kano state have shared borders with Katsina and Kaduna states and for quite sometimes the two states have been bedeviled by the activities of armed bandits, kidnappers and cattle rustlers.
