The Kano State House of Assembly has formally received the State Police Bill and has commenced its legislative review without delay.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Friday, the Assembly confirmed that copies of the Bill have been circulated to all members for in-depth study, analysis and possible input for improvement where necessary.

“Furthermore, the State Police Bill was read on the floor of the House during a recent plenary session, during which members were given the opportunity to begin proper legislative consideration of the Bill in accordance with due process.

“It is anticipated that after members have completed their individual review, the Bill will be scheduled for second reading on 12th October, 2026, for further deliberation and approval by the entire House,” the statement said.
Speaking on the development, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Isma’il Falgore, reiterated that Kano State is fully committed and prepared to confront security challenges head-on.

“Kano remains relatively peaceful compared to many other states in the country, proactive legislation is crucial to sustaining and strengthening the state’s security architecture,”:the statement added.
Recall that the State Police Constitution Amendment Bill was transmitted to 36 Assemblies on 16th September 2026.
