Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has charged officers and men of the command to remain absolutely neutral, apolitical and non-partisan in the discharge of their duties, particularly during the ongoing electioneering campaigns.
The charge is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, a copy of which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the commissioner gave the charge on Monday during a strategic lecture organized for operational commanders on election security management.
“Today, Monday, 28th September, 2026, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, convened a strategic lecture for Operational Commanders of the Command on Election Security Management,” the statement said.
The commissioner emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force has a constitutional responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and actors, warning that any officer found engaging in partisan politics or compromising the integrity of the electoral process will face strict disciplinary action.

He further charged the operational commanders to remain professional, respect human rights and rule of law, operate with the fear of God, and work selflessly to earn public trust and confidence.
The police commissioner reminded the officers that public trust is the cornerstone of effective policing and urged them to strengthen community partnership and intelligence-led policing to ensure a peaceful, credible and hitch-free electoral process in the state.
“The Command, under the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reiterates its resolve to provide adequate security before, during and after the 2027 general elections.”
He appreciated the officers for their dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment in crime prevention, management and control, which has significantly contributed to the relative peace and stability currently being enjoyed in the state.

The commissioner called on residents, political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and abide by the provisions of the Electoral Act, as any act capable of breaching public peace will not be condoned.
The lecture, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Bompai, Kano, had in attendance Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Tactical and Operational Units, and other key officers of the Command.
