Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has signed into law the state’s 2021 budget of N120.346bn.
According to the breakdown of the budget, the sum of N61.645 billion stood as capital expenditure while N58.701 billion as recurrent expenditure respectively.
The budget reflected an increase of N682.6 million over the initial sum of N119.663 billion budget proposal submitted to the state House of Assembly on December 3 by the governor.
Governor Yahaya said 52.8 percent of the budget was allocated to capital expenditure in order to achieve more on both social and human development projects aimed at improving the well-being of the people.
the governor added that 48.2 percent of the budget was earmarked for the recurrent expenditure.
He commended the assembly for the expeditious passage of the budget and assured of its logical implementation to enable people of the state enjoy dividends of democracy.
The governor expressed confidence that the 2021 budget would bring the desired change to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
Earlier, Speaker Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo said the house reviewed the figure of the appropriation bill upward to properly capture social aspects to ensure human capital development.
He added that they would continue to cooperate with the executive arm of government in order to bring developmental projects for the benefit of Gombe citizens.
