The Kano State Hospitals Management Board has suspended three officers with immediate effects, who were directly involved in the late Aishatu Umar’s case from clinical activities at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre Kano.

Samira Suleiman, confirmed the suspension of the three hospital staff in a statement, a copy of which was made available to The Punch on Wednesday..

“The Kano State Hospitals Management Board wishes to inform the general public that following a preliminary and transparent investigation ordered by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, the Board has established that the unfortunate incident involving the late Aishatu Umar did occur at the Abubakar Imam Urology Center.
“In line with its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and patient safety, the Board has outrightly suspended three personnel directly involved in the case from clinical activities with immediate effect,” she said.
According to Sulaiman, Furthermore, the matter has been formally referred to the Kano State Medical Ethical Committee for further investigation and appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with existing laws, professional guidelines, and ethical standards.
The Board extends its deepest condolences to the family of the late Aishatu Umar and sympathizes with them over this painful loss.

The Board further reassured the public that it will not condone negligence in any form and will continue to take decisive actions to safeguard the lives, dignity, and trust of patients across all state health facilities.
It added that the management board remains resolute in strengthening internal monitoring, enforcing professional standards, and ensuring that such incidents are prevented in the future.
Recall that the late Aishatu Umar reportedly died after what her family described as suspected medical negligence following a surgical procedure carried out at the hospital.
According to her family member, Mohammed who posted on Facebook, said the late Aishatu who was married with five children, died around 1am on Tuesday after suffering persistent abdominal pain since undergoing surgery at the facility in September 2025.

“Umar began to complain of severe abdominal pain, which persisted for several months.She suffered this pain for four months,” Mohammed said.
Following the incident, the State Hospitals management board on Tuesday order for an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident.
