DSS releases Salihu Tanko Yakasai

Date:

Operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) has released Alhaji Salihu Tanko Yakasai, former special adviser on media to Gvernor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Yakasai was arrested by the DSS for criticising Presidet Muhammad Buhari-led administration on security challenges in the country.

Daily Telescope recalled that prior to his arrest, Yakasai was stripped of his position as special adviser on media to governor Ganduje over the same comments.

The sacked media aide was picked by the officials of the DSS on Friday evening on his way to barbing saloon.

Confirming his release to Daily Telescope on phone, his father, Alhaji Salihu Tanko Yakasai said his son was released today after spending two days in the custody of the DSS.

He explained that Yakasai junior had since reunited with his relatives in Abuja.

“My son has been released today and has been reunited with other members of my family in Abuja. However, what will shock the world is that up till the time he was released, nobody among the security operatives tells him the reason behind his arrest.

“This is to tell you that his arrest was political and uncalled for. Nevertheless, the security agency responsible for hi arrest and indeed the government have heard the reactions of the people. The Amnesty International and other reputable organisations have condemned the arrest.

“Some notable Nigerians including Mr. Femi Falana and former Governor of Jigawa state have also condemned the arrest of my son. This is beside many youth organisations that have not only condemned the arrest, but also called for the immediate release of my son.”

Daily Telescope recalled that this is the second time Yakasai junior was sacked from his position as media aide by governor Ganduje over critical comments on Buhari-led administration.
