Kidnappers offered money not to release the students
Governor Matawalle however, alleged that some notable people have given the kidnappers of the schoolgirls money in order not to release them.
“While Zamfara state was busy negotiating with the kidnappers for the release of the girls, some people offered the kidnappers money in order to scuttle the move,” he alleged.
The governor said he would soon make shocking revelations regarding the abduction of the girls, noting that he had directed security agencies to investigate the allegation of involvement of notable people in scuttling the release of the girls.
He assured that any body found wanting in the abduction of the schoolgirls would be dealt with according to provisions of the laws, saying “his government will not take it lightly with any troublemaker in the state.”
Governor Matawalle, however, said contrary to speculations, the actual number of schoolgirls that were abducted was 279 not 300 as it has been reported earlier by various media organizations.
