The Kano State chapter of Arewa Consultative Forum has called on the state government to honour the 22-year-old commercial tricycle rider, Auwalu Salisu, who recently returned the missing N15 million to a Chadian owner in Kano.
Recall that the Chadian man boarded Salisu’s tricycle over the weekend but forgot the huge money when he alighted from the tricycle.
The ACF chairman of the Kano chapter, Dr. Goni Farouk Umar made the call on Monday evening while donating N100,000 to the tricycle rider in appreciation for his sincerity.
He said the young man should be honoured in view of his good character in order to encourage him so that others could also emulate him.
“So many people have appreciated what he has done. This is somebody whose parents could not afford three square meals, but yet he returned this huge amount of money left in his tricycle to the owner through the announcement over Arewa Radio,” he said.
Farouk Umar commended the father of the tricycle rider for giving him good moral training and called on other parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children
Meanwhile, forty members of the Kano State House of Assembly have pledged to contribute a certain amount of money from their salaries to support the tricycle rider.
The decision to contribute money to Salisu was taken during the plenary, presided over by the speaker Alhaji Isma’il Jibril Falgore.
The lawmakers argued that the tricycle rider, who dropped out from JSS three, has proven his integrity by returning the missing money, despite his family condition, and the economic hardship in the country.
