People who lost relevance agitate for Nigerian disintegration- Bashir Tofa

Date:

The former Presidential candidate of the defunct National Republic Convention (NRC), Alhaji Bashir Tofa, has said that most of those agitating for the disintegration of Nigeria are people who lost relevance in the country.

Tofa made the remarks while reacting to accusations against the renown Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami, Sultan of Sokoto, Dr Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and Jamatu Nasril Islam (JNI) by Southerners.

According to him, most of those making such noises were doing so because they have either lost out or they are no more relevant in the scheme of things in the country, hence their agitation to divide the country for their selfish and myopic interest.

“Nigeria has alot of enemies both within and outside of the country and this is a key factor in driving this agitation for separation of this country and for instigating our Christan brothers and sisters to hate Islamic religion and Muslims.

“If you examine the kind of people who are making these noises, you will find out that they are fanatics for along time ago because things have changed and time has changed and they are probably nobody any more and they resent that and this resentment drives them to do whatever to make sure there is no peace especially between Muslims and Christians in the country.

“Now it is up to the majority of Muslims and Christians in the country to know that they need one another to live in peace and ignore the enemies of the country.

“The more we answer them (the enemies of the country) and care about what they are doing, the more we help them to achieve their selfish aim,” Tofa said.

According to him, no sane person would support agitation for the disintegration of this country stressing that there are alot of Christians in the North and across the country who are decent people but our problem is that we always keep quiet and allow these noise makers to make the noises and distablise the country.

He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to check the excesses of those unpatriotic elements by ensuring that they are apprehended with a view to prosecuting them in accordance with the country’s laws.(End).

“Nobody in his right mind will say that somebody like the Sultan and JNI or any decent person in this country will want disintegration of this country.
