Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, have arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and a suspected illegal drug dealer in Kumbotso local government area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement, a copy of which was made available to The Punch on Tuesday.

“Operatives of the NSCDC Kano State command acting on credible intelligence, apprehended two suspects, a suspected motorcycle thief at Sabuwar Jiddah, Yan kusa,and a suspected illegal drug dealer at Sabon Titin Dorayi all in Kumbotso local government of Kano State,” he said.
According to him, the suspected motorbike thief, identified as Usman Abdulhamid, 19 and resident of Yandanko, Panshekara, was arrested shortly after stealing a motor bike at Sabuwar Jiddah area from an unsuspecting member of the public.
He said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of a syndicate that specializes in stealing and snatching motorcycles across various parts of Kano metropolis.

He added that during the operation, personnel of the corps recovered four motorcycles from the suspect (three (3) Jincheng and one Lifan Kumata motorbikes), adding that efforts are being made to arrest other two accomplices who are currently at large.
He said that the drug dealer, a 28 year old, Salisu Abdullahi of Semegu, Kumbotso local government area, was arrested at Sabon Titin Dorayi in possession of various psychotrophic substances suspected to be sold for Illicit consumption.
He said exhibits recovered from him include 100 pieces of Paxol 5mg tablets, 30 pieces of Pregabalin 300mg, 170 pieces of Diazepam 10mg and one tablet of Male sex enhancer.

“These arrests are part of the corps broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks involved in theft, vandalism and other crimes that threaten public safety,” the statement said.
Abdullahi said the suspects are presently under investigation and they will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
