Chairman of the Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Khaleel told newsmen that the meeting was not a debate, rather challenging Sheikh Kabara to defend himself about some ambiguous statements he made during propagation.
“We are not holding any debate with sheikh Abduljabbar, rather we are going to challenge him on some ambiguous statements he was making in his preaching, lectures and writings. If people call it debate, I think they have changed the real concept of the meeting.
“We are going to sit with him and challenge him on some ambiguous statements he was making. We are going to ask him so many questions about such statements. Period.

“We want him to clear the air about such statements. We want him to tell the whole world where he got such teachings or statements and who among the famous Islamic scholars propagates Islam with such teachings?
“So, people should stop calling the meeting a debate, if we call it a debate it means we are going discuss on certain issues and in the end, judges will compare between our stand and his and then come up with a final result. This is not what the meeting is all about.
“What will actually happen during the meeting, is that we will challenge Abduljabbar to tell us sources of such statements and who among the famous Islamic scholars is he relaying upon for his mode of preaching.
Sheikh Khaleel added that Kano had witnessed various misunderstandings among Islamic sects, but this time around Sheikh Abduljabbar had brought something that goes contrary to teachings of many scholars of different sects, hence the need to clear the air.

“So, that is why we deemed it necessary to invite him for a meeting and challenge him on certain issues, so that he can clear the air and defend himself. His father of blessed memory, Sheikh Nasiru Kabara has preached in this way. He has never preached in the way and manner Shiekh Abduljabbar is preaching. Why is it so?”
