Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board has refunded a sum of N768.9m to 599 2020/2021 ntending pilgrims who applied for the refund of their Hajj Deposits.

The Executive Director of the board, Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki stated this during a press conference in Katsina.

Alhaji Kuki said that the amount represents 22.01 percent of the total 2,721 intending pilgrims that deposited their money with the board.

He said from the statistics of the board’s registration, the board has depositors with payments ranging from N300,000-N1.500,000 and all refunds are made to the last kobo.

The executive director further said ,the exercise is ongoing and any intending pilgrim wishing to request for refund of his/her deposits is free to do so.

He added that those willing to roll-over their deposits against 2022 Hajj can do so by contacting their zonal pilgrims offices to fill the roll-over agreement form.

Alhaji Kuki said the cancellation of 2021 hajj for foreign pilgrims by Saudi Arabian Authorities was due to prevalence of covid=19, hoping that both Umrah and Hajj will hold in 2022.

The executive director, however, announced that Governor Aminu Bello Masari has approved the boards proposal to start Umrah, adding that the board is working round the clock to obtain license and other operational permits.
