No fewer than 9,000 candidates are seeking admission into Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Mukhtar Kurawa has said.
Professor Kurawa, who stated this while inspecting the post UME examination conducted at the University premises in Kano, said 9,000 applicants had registered for the post UME examination.
He said the university had deployed all necessary COVID-19 protocol geared towards ensuring safety during the examination.
The Vice Chancellor explained that the post UME examination was aimed at selecting candidates who were qualified to be admitted into the institution.
”The registration of the post UME examination began months ago, and we are conducting the examination to select the most qualified, over nine thousand candidates applied for admission into this university and the allocation approved by Joint Admission and matriculation board was just a little above 4,000.
Kurawa noted that going by JAMB regulations, every admission must be conducted through the central admission processing system,which is a new innovation introduced by JAMB.
He warned that any candidates who got admission without JAMB admission letter, risk not getting mobilised by the National Youth Service Corps.
The Vice Chancellor assured the candidates and public of a fair selection process.
