The Kano state government has withdrawn the invitation it sent to President Muhammadu Buhari requesting him to commission some projects in the state.
The withdrawal by the Kano state government might not be unconnected with what took place in Katsina state yesterday when the President was in the state to also commission some projects.

A reliable source close to the Government House confirmed the new development to pressmen in Kano on Friday.
According to the source, the state government took the hasty decision in order to avert repetition of a similar scenario in Kano state.
The government also complained that the President said that he will be in Kano for just a 1-day official visit. But earlier this week he was in Lagos state for a 2-day official visit. Why not Kano state?

Another reason which compelled the state government to withdraw the invitation is tied to a gigantic project laid down by Buhari during his presidential campaign in Tiga.
The state government has completed the project and wants him to commission it but his securities have declined and insisted he won’t visit Tiga.
The state government doesn’t also want the President in Kano state currently for fear that his presence will shake the political structure of the All Progressive Congress in Kano,” the source said.
According to the source, the government has been preparing for the President’s visit who was supposed to be in Kano on Monday but has notified him of withdrawing the invitation.

The state government is awaiting feedback from the presidency.
The source however noted that if the President insists on coming to Kano state, it will be a lowkey celebration without large gatherings.
