Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has declared Monday, Muharram 1, 1443 AH equivalent to August 9, 2021 as Work-Free day in the State.
A statement issued by Malam Muhammad Garba, commissioner of information, indicated that the holiday was in commemoration of the new Islamic calendar 1443 AH.

The governor urged workers to use the work-free day to pray for the country to deliver it from the prevailing security challenges.

Ganduje also congratulated the Muslims on the dawn of the new Islamic year, which calls for thanksgiving and sober reflection.
The statement further enlisted the support and cooperation of the people for the government as it strives hard to better their lots in the face of daunting challenges facing the nation.
