The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has described the death of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf (Sardaunan Dutse) as a collosal loss not only to his family but also to the entire nation.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor said that the death has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill considering his position in the society.

The governor while praying for the repose of the soul of late Sardauna of Dutse, he prayed for his family, Jigawa state and the nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

A Senior Technocrat, Islamic Scholar, Politician and a business Tycoon, late Bello Maitama Yusuf served as a minister of internal Affairs and Commerce between 1979 to 1982.
He was also a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that represented Jigawa state for multiple terms.

The funeral prayer for late Sen. Yusuf took place at the mosque of Kano Emir’s Palace after Jumaat prayer by 2:30pm
“May his soul rest in the best part of Jannatul Firdausy, amin,” the statement added.
