Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, will on Saturday receive a distinguished award for excellence in governance and health sector stride.
A statement on Friday by his spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the award will be presented to the governor by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the 2024 Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja tomorrow (Saturday).

He said the governor will be honoured as the best performing Governor in Governance, Health Sector, in recognition of his significant contributions to healthcare development in the state.
Mislii said, “Governor Inuwa Yahaya was nominated for this prestigious award by the Presidency through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), in collaboration with a reputable outfit, Best Strategic Media (BSM).

“The nomination was officially conveyed to the Governor by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, on behalf of the SGF, Senator George Akume.”
According to him, since assuming office in 2019, Governor Yahaya has made the healthcare sector a top priority, leading to significant improvements in both infrastructure and services across the state.

“The governor’s commitment to transforming the healthcare sector has not only improved the overall health indicators of the state but has also set a benchmark for other states to follow.
“His leadership and vision have ensured that the people have access to high-quality healthcare services across the nooks and crannies of the state,” Misilli added.
