FUGUS management directs Students To Relocate To Safer Places

Date:

The management of the Federal University Gusau has directed its students that are residing at private campus to relocate to secured places for their safety.

The decision followed the abduction of four students and a staff of the university by suspected bandits on Saturday.

A statement issued by University’s Information Officer, Usman Umar urged the student to relocate to either Sabon Gida, secured area with armed security operatives or stay within Gusau metropolis.

“This is because they (students) are more vulnerable to bandit attacks when living at the outskirts especially, Damba.” The statement noted.

The statement confirmed that the troops of the Operation Hadarin Daji and Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) have successfully rescued all the four (4) kidnapped students of Federal University Gusau who were abducted Saturday, 14th October, 2023 at Sabon Garin Damba Area, Gusau, Zamfara State.

The incident took place at about 08:00pm where four students were abducted at their rented apartment at an outskirt of Damba, an area close to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Two out of the four kidnapped students escaped after they were abducted while the remaining two were rescued after a heavy gun duel between the troops and the bandits.
