Elders Forum Urges Senators To Respect Tinubu/APC Choice Of Akpabio As Senate President

Date:

A group under the aegis of National Patriotic Elders Forum of Nigeria, though has taken a stand in the continuing National Assembly debacles over the choice of their next leadership, urging Senators particularly to respect the choice of Akpabio/Barau Jibrin as Senate President and Deputy respectively.

Speaking to Newsmen in Kano on Saturday, the National President of the group, Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, said, “We are aware of the fact everything that is happening at both National Chambers was more to Politics, but we should be mindful of the fact that those who will emerge as leaders needs understanding and cooperation of the Executive’s”.

“Therefore, to Us the decisions of the President-Elect Senator Bola Tinubu and the APC on Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin to lead the 10th National Assembly was done not for the mere of it but with a reason as such Senators should allow this decision to be”.

AbdulAziz said that Nigeria has come through a huge multiple problems that require the forthcoming leaders to have some concentration, and that concentration can only be achieved with mutual understanding between the Executive’s and the National Assembly”.

“For us for the President-Elect to quickly point at a direction of who he wants to be, the President of the Senate tells a lot about his preparations in the governance of Nigeria, is not for nothing, he must have seen good qualities in those he pointed at”.

The President of the Elders, cleared that their position has nothing to do with taking sides or being Political, “no our position just like our names is a patriotic one aimed at dousing tension and doing what is right”, he added.

On what to expect from the next Nigeria leaders, AbdulAziz, urged the President-Elect to do his possible best in freeing the Country from the shackles of poverty, insecurities and lack of direction.

“Nigerians have suffered too much, they need urgent means that will make them smile and believe that they have made a right choice in Bola Tinubu and other elected leaders, therefore this should be the yardstick upon how the Government will focus its attention”.
