Civil defense arrests 2 suspected cattle rustlers, drug pedlers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Katsina State Command says it has arrested two persons over alleged cattle rustling and illegal drug peddling.

This is contained in statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer DSC Mohammed Tukur Abdara.

DSC Abdara said the first suspect, Abubakar Sani 20, of Mai Kaho village in Jibia local government was arrested and handed-over to the Corps by members of Vigilantee Groups of Nigeria, on the suspicion of participating in cattle rustling.

He said the suspect has confessed to have been involved in cattle rustling with a gang of five other criminals using sophisticated weapons at Nasarawa Bugaje village, Jibia local government.

The statement said the suspect also confessed that he had a fore knowledge of the abduction of 3 persons in Falale village by the same gang but failed to notify security operatives.

The statement said the other suspect, Aminu Mu’azu 29, of Yangora village of Bindawa local government was arrested in Mani local government area by operatives of the corps on the suspicion of being in possession and selling of illegal drug substances.

During the arrest, the items found in possession of the suspect include: 3 sachets plus, 19 pieces of Diazapham; 27 ropes of suspected cannabis; 96 number of Exols; 28 number of D5 tabs; and 4 capsules of tramadol.

The statement said preliminary investigation, the suspect has confessed to have committed the offence.

“The suspect will be handed over to NDLEA, Katsina Command for further investigation and prosecution,” said the statement.

The statement quoted the Commandant of the Corps Mohammad Sanusi Bello as urging members of the public to assist security agencies with accurate and prompt information on suspicious individuals to effectively tackle security challenges facing the state.
