President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday in Bichi, Kano state urged the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero to exhibit good leadership qualities of his late father, Alhaji Ado Bayero, in promoting peace and unity in Nigeria.
Buhari made the call in his congratulatory message to the emir on his coronation as the second Emir of Bichi, on Saturday in Bichi, Kano state.
Buhari was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, who is also uncle to the Emir.
“Your father, my late friend, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, may his soul rest in peace, was a symbol of unity, not only within the kingdom, but also in the entire Northern Nigeria and the country in general.
“I am confident that you will exhibit such leadership qualities and much more.
“As I continue to pray for your success, I look forward to your contributions in uplifting people of this emirate in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
“I wish to assure you of my support to leave a legacy,” Buhari said.
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, called on Nigerians to continue to pray for God’s intervention in the persistent security challenges bedevilling the country.
The monarch also urged people in the country to intensify efforts in praying for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders in the country.
He called on traditional rulers to continue to assist their various state governments to improve the living condition of people through the implementation of laudable policies and Programmes.
He commended the Kano state government for creating additional four emirates which would assist to bring more developments especially to the grassroots.
He also urged people in the country to intensify efforts in praying for the country and its leaders.
