One person has been confirmed dead following a fire outbreak at an illegal refinery and engine oil depot at Katango area of Wailari in Gezawa LGA of Kano State.
The fire also destroyed a truck and four residential houses before it was put off, Daily Telescope, gathered.

Daily Telescope learnt that the inferno took personnel of the Kano State Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency and fire workers from Salbas Petrol Station more than three hours before they could bring it under control.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi said the fire started around 09:50 am on Monday.

He said a dead body, which was burnt beyond recognition, was recovered from the debris by the fire service personnel.
Abdullahi added that the place, which is located in the midst of residential houses, is being used for keeping scraps of trucks and trailers in addition to storing fuel and refining used engine oil for other purposes.
“No one can say whether the place is used for refining of used engine oil or storing fuel and other related commodities.

“So, for now we have not ascertain the causes of the inferno but the person that died was trapped in the fire and burnt beyond recognition,”Abdullahi said.
He advised residents to always take precautionary measures in order to prevent fire outbreak especially now that the harmattan season had set in .
