The suspended Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado has explained why he was arrested by the Police operatives.
Barrister Rimin-Gado who spoke through his aide, Barrister Muhammad Auwal, said the police claimed that he was arrested over alleged forging his medical report which he (Rimin-Gado) presented to the Kano State House of Assembly after he failed to appear before it when he was invited.

“When the police first arrested Rimin-Gado, they did not tell him the reasons behind his arrest. There was also no reason for his arrest contain therein on the arrest warrant. But on reaching to the FCT Police command, the police asked him to write a statement, a request Rimin-Gado declined on grounds that he did not know why he was arrested.
“He rather, demanded the police to tell him why he was arrested. It was at this point that the police presented to him a petition written against him for forging his medical report which he tendered before the Kano State House of Assembly as evidence why he failed to appear before the house when he was invited.
“Despite the petition, Barrister Rimin-Gado refused to write any statement on the forums that the issue is currently before a court of law. He instead presented some court documents to the police to prove his claims.

”He insisted that since the matter is before a court, he will not write anything about it in order to avoid contempt,” he said.
Auwal added that “Information reaching us from Abuja is that the police are preparing to move the former kano Anti-graft boss to Kano for further actions. However, we are here in Kano waiting for his arrival from Abuja.”
Daily Telescope learnt that the arrested of the former chairman was politically motivated, as he was indicated interest to contest for governorship come 2023 general elections.

Rimin-Gado, Daily Telescope recalled had already purchased forms in preparations for his contest under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former Kano anti-graft chairman was arrested today at the Sokoto state Liaison Office in Abuja, venue of the PDP screening exercise.
