The TETFund National Research Fund Screening and Monitoring Team has Paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas on Friday 23rd June, 2023 at the VC’s board room.
Giving the background of the visit, the Director, Directorate of Research Innovation and Partnership (DRIP) Prof. I. A. Rufai, said the team was in BUK to monitor and evaluate five out of the 14 research projects that were being funded by TETFund since 2020.

Speaking on behalf of the team, the team leader, Professor Sunday Agang said the NRF team was in the University to see how the research funds were utilized.

He said BUK was unique in terms of mindset about academics and also followed the legacy of late Mallam Aminu Kano, adding that BUK ‘is the kind of University Nigeria needs most especially in the northern region.”
He thanked the Vice Chancellor and the management for the warm reception accorded them and looked forward
to seeing the product of researches that researchers have carried out.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor, prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Sani Muhammad Gumel expressed his delight over the kind words and favorable comments coming from the TETFund team.
Prof. Sagir Abass disclosed that BUK has 18 faculties, 94 departments, 19 centers among which Center for Dry land Agriculture and Africa Center of Excellence for Population and Health Policy (ACEPHAP) are African Center of excellences (ACE), adding that Centre for Renewable Energy has received a grant of 1 billion naira.
He said BUK as a result of the importance attached to research has a Directorate of Research Innovation and Partnership and the Director of the center is the coordinator for all research projects despite the multidisciplinary nature of the research.
