Unconfirmed number of villagers were said to have been abducted and scores feared killed in Yola village of Karaye Local Government Area in Kano State after a series of attacks on the village by bandits.
A resident, who spoke to this newspaper on condition of anonymity, said the incidents occurred on Saturday and Sunday on different occasions in the village, adding that he could not ascertain how many people were abducted or killed.

“I was told that on the first day of the attack, about four people were abducted and two killed while in the second attack, two people were abducted and many more killed. It is apparent that Karaye needs the presence of army posts because of these attacks,” he said.
It was gathered that recently, the axis of Karaye and Rogo local governments have been facing serious threats of insecurity due to Rogo’s proximity with Katsina and Kaduna states.

It was also revealed that sometime in April 2023, bandits kidnapped a popular businessman in Gangarbi Village of the Rogo LGA of Kano State, Alhaji Nasiru Na’ayya, and killed one person.
However, it was also reported that the Karaye Emirate had in 2021 raised the alarm on migration of Zamfara illegal miners to the emirate and had devised some measures in addressing the issues.
According to sources close to the emirate, the measures taken include registration of migrants in the emirate.

Attempt to reach the state’s police command DSP Abdullahi Haruna proved abortive as he didn’t respond to calls put through to his lines.
However, when he finally picked the phone, he promised to find out and revert back but he never did up to the time of filing the report.
