Ahead of the Sallah celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kano Sector command has warned commercial vehicle drivers to comply strictly with traffic rules and regulations during the Sallah festivities and beyond.
Similarly, the Corps cautioned drivers to shun overloading, speed violations, as well as refrain from dangerous and reckless driving.
This is contained in a statement on Monday by the Sector’s Public Education Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, a copy of which was made available to the Punch.
According to the statement, the FRSC Sector Command, Idris Mohammed Lawal made the call during a Road Show/Rally held along the Kano-Zaria road on Monday.
“The rally was in compliance with the directive of the Road Safety Headquarters for a nationwide public enlightenment campaign ahead of the 2026 Sallah celebration.

“The exercise, which took place today, Monday 16th March 2026, along the Kano–Zaria Road, was organized and led by the Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, with support from the Sector Head of Operations, DCC B.Y. Mohammed.
It said the Road Show/Rally was aimed at creating public awareness on road safety, encouraging safe driving behaviour among motorists and ensuring a crash-free Sallah celebration in Kano State and across the country.
“The sensitization campaign is in line with the Corps’ 2026 Strategic Goal of “Renewed Commitment, Professionalism and Improved Service Delivery,” as declared by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
During the exercise, the Sector Commander and his entourage visited Kano Line Motor Park along Kano–Zaria Road where he addressed members of various transport unions including NURTW, NARTO and RTEAN, as well as drivers and passengers.

“He urged them to shun overloading, avoid speed violations, refrain from dangerous and reckless driving, and comply strictly with traffic rules and regulations,” the statement added.
Officials of the transport unions, drivers and passengers at the park commended the Sector Commander for the visit and pledged their commitment to obey traffic rules and regulations in order to ensure a crash-free Sallah celebration.
