A group, under the aegis of Katsina Elders Forum has called on President Bola Tinubu, to intervene in the revocation of Katsina-Dutsinma-Marrarbar Kankara road contract by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
According to the group, the action of the Minister was targetted at negating the good image and support the President enjoyed because of the contract.

A statement on Tuesday by the Forum’s Spokesperson, Dr.Namanga Danmajiya, a copy of which was made available to The Punch, said that the road contract which was awarded by the same Government of Tinubu sometimes April 2024, was cherished and welcomed by the overwhelming population of Katsina Citizens.
“Because of the awards of the contract by President Tinubu, his popularity and support swelled like hell fire among the citizens of Katsina and many welcomed it with a bang of happiness, because it will help in the transportation of goods from across the Federation”.
Dr. Danmajiya noted that after the awards of the contract, a Special Monitoring and Supervision committee was created by the Katsina People who are monitoring how it was being carried out, and they commended the contractor whom they believed was doing a good job.

The Elders, hints that they don’t want to attack the personality of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi because the insinuation was that the Minister is allegedly revoking the Contract in favor of his cronies companies, whom he has personal interest in them.
“We are aware that the 147kmt Katsina-Dutsinma-Marrarbar Kankara road project was revoked on a flimsy excuses.
“We don’t want to believe and work on the allegations against the Minister that he revoked the contract because he has personal interest in them and the allegations further says that one of the Contracting Companies has his biological sons as a Director”.
The Elders than called on President Tinubu to quickly intervene on the revocation to safeguard his already supports and show of loves he earned from the People because of the road contract.

They reminded that the road project which transcends to Niger Republic, would help in inter-continental movements of goods and in the end, Nigeria would be the great beneficiary of the whole project.
They said, “We are sure that President Tinubu is been manipulated on the revocation of the contract because it was not his personal idea, because to everybody the President is a Nationalist who believes in the good of every section of the Nation, we want to him to listen and do the needful by allowing the contract and contractor to continue the job”.
