The Kano State Police Command has arrested suspected criminals during the just concluded ‘Maukibi’ Islamic religious gathering organised by Kadiriyya Islamic sect in Kano metropolis.
This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the suspects, who were apprehended during the clearance operation, include 33 miscreants (Yandaba) 17 drug dealers and eight others.
“During the raid large quantity of dangerous weapons were recovered as CP Dikko declares War Against Drug dealers and thugs.
“In line with the directives of IGP Alkali Baba Usman on Community-based policing and Operation Puff Adder, and the Command’s efforts to rid Kano State of all forms of crimes and criminality, especially the menace of thuggery (Daba), drug abuse and other social vices.

“Clearance operations carried out by the command during the Maukibi event on the 20/11/2021 led to the arrest of 58 suspects for offences ranging from armed robbery, theft to dealings in illicit drugs.
“All the suspects of various addresses within Kano Metropolitan were arrested with dangerous weapons, robbed and stolen properties. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” the statement added.
The commissioner called on all criminals including thugs and drug dealers to repent, or leave the state completely be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.

He thanked the good people of Kano State for their continuous support, understanding, encouragement and cooperation.
He said rigorous patrol and raids of criminals’ hideouts and black spots woulf continue throughout the state as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring safety of lives and properties.
