NNPP Reps Candidate Rejects Election Results Over Alleged Over-Voting

Date:

Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo, the House of Representatives Candidate for Gwarzo/ Kabo Federal Constituency on the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party, has rejected the results of the constituency declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission over alleged over voting.

Addressing a news conference on Sunday at the Kano Press Centre, said his decision to reject the results was based on the physical evidence of massive collaboration with State government, INEC officials and security agents in carrying out the electoral fraud.

According to him, he was the candidate the people of the constituency voted to represent them at the National Assembly.

“There was massive collaboration with the state government, INEC officials and security agents because we have physical evidence to buttress our claim,” he said.

He alleged that one of his polling agents was arrested and detained for no reason at the state police headquarters before he was later released.

He added that the affected polling agent was arrested because he refused to sign the results sheet.

The former Federal lawmaker, called on the INEC to cancel the results, said he would challenge the election results at the court of laws if INEC refused to restore his mandate.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officers of APC and NNPP in the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Kano have rejected results from Dambatta and Makoda Local Government areas of the state.

Dr. Gwarzo Kabir is the returning officer for NNPP and Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, is the returning officer of the APC.

The duo rejected the results of those local governments, each crying foul that he was cheated.

Dr. Kabir of NNPP, alleged that BVAS machines were not used at the local governments, despite the fact that they won the elections, while Bichi of APC claimed that the party’s results were higher than what was declared.

Bichi said the party was short changed with about 2,000 votes.

The INEC Returning Officer from Dambatta, Prof. Abdulmalik Auwal said he escaped by whiskers as armed thugs chased him away.

“I was chased away like a criminal and without any Security to save me, I came to INEC all along by myself”, he declared.

However, INEC Kano Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor, Uthman Dan Fodio University , Sokoto, Prof. Lawal Sulyman Bilbis, said the BVAS would be checked to address the issues.
