NECO insists Kano ranks first on 2025 best examination performing state

Date:

The National Examination Council, has insisted that Kano is the first best performing State that ranks first in the whole of the Federation on the 2025 Council Examinations with 5.886 percent and 39,351 Candidates with five Credits and above in both Mathematics and English.

A Newspaper report has faulted NECO given Abia as the best Performing ranking State that comes first using the State code number 001 as yardstick in their judgement, but the Council rise to the occasion describing the reports as misleading and not correct.

The Newspaper said, “Kano Candidates scored 50-16 percent showing they failed as only 49.84 percent of its total 136.762 Candidates scored at least five Credits including Mathematics and English”.

However NECO said what the Newspaper reported was an Analysis of Candidates performance by States not the final results of the total results and ranking of States and the showing Abia State Code number 001 is nothing but misleading.

An Official of the Council who spoke on condition of anonymity told reporters, “that is why on the final performance ranking Kano with its 015 code still becomes first State while the Abia State with 001becomes 35th in the whole Country.

A look at the Performance Sheets shows that Lagos State is the best on Male Performance ranking and is the first best State in the whole of the Country with 43,538 Candidates registering and 43,202 Sitting for the Examinations with 4.44 percent and 30,203 having five Credits and above in Mathematics and English.

And Kano on the Male Performance ranking has 62,223 registration and 61,854 sitting for the Examinations and 28,308 scoring five Credits and above in Mathematics and English with 4.100 percent.

He said, “on Female ranking Kano becomes first 137,338 registering and 136,762 sitting for the Examinations thereby having 5.020 percent and Lagos becoming second with only 4.93 percent

He, therefore, cautioned the Media against misleading the public on something of high importance like Education because it should not be played with.

The NECO official also appealed to Governor Yusuf to settle their examinations unpaid fees from 2022 to date amounting to N475 Million.

Also speaking, Director Kano Educational Resource Center, Hajiya Rabi Inuwa said Governor Yusuf has even before the commencement of the examinations paid over N3 billion examination fees.
