The Emir of Karaye in Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar II expressed concern over the daily movement of teenage girls from Madobi and Kiru local government areas to Kano City for hawking.
The Emir made remarks on Tuesday during his visit to Madobi and Kiru Districts in continuation of his englightenment tour to Districts under his Emirate.
He, therefore, called on the two local government councils to put heads together with District Heads, Parents and other stakeholders to come up with modalities that would end teenage girls hawking and housemaid work in wealthy individual houses in the urban cities.
The Emir said his greatest concern always is to watch children especially girls at the time they supposed to be in the classroom, roaming in the streets or hawking.
He reminded people of the emirate that, the Kano State government has enacted a law “titled law No.6 of 2020” on free and compulsory education from primary to secondary school levels andTsangaya under which parents or Guardian could be punished for not enrolling his ward into school.
In his remarks, the Kano state Commissioner of education Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi Sa’idu Kiru said the state government would estabilish MEFA Unity School which would start with 360 students drawn from the state and 19 state of the North in Karaye Emirate.
