Northwest University Kano has expelled no fewer than 34 students for their involvement in examination misconduct.
The expulsion of the affected students is contained in a statement on Monday signed by the Head, Public Relations Unit of the university, Abubakar Ibrahim on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu.
According to the statement, the Senate of the university approved the expulsion of the students during its 66th regular meeting held on Wednesday, 17th and Thursday, 18th June 2026.
“The Senate of the university at its 66th statutory meeting held on Wednesday, 17th and Thursday, 18th June 2026 approved the recommendations of the Senate committee on examination misconduct arising from the Second Semester 2024/2025 Examination,” the statement said.
The statement further explained that the action was taken in accordance with the University’s Examination Regulations as contained in the Students’ Handbook.
In addition to the expulsions, the Senate approved the rustication of 18 students, while 22 others were issued warning letters for various examination-related offences.The statement further disclosed that one student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, was exonerated after the case against her was reviewed.
The University reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity and urged all students to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing examinations.
