Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has vowed to sign the death sentence of the suspect who allegedly burnt 24 people down in a mosque at Gadan village in Gezawa Local Government Area if found guilty of the offence.
The governor who condemned the inhuman act, made the vow during a visit to the victims at the Murtala Mohammad Hospital on Sunday evening.

He urged the police to prosecute the suspect for the heinous crime in a sharia court.
“Whatever the court decides, we will ensure that the victims of the Gadan village arson get justice and if it condemns him to death after finding him guilty, we will not hesitate to sign the death warrant, ” he said.
The Governor who went straight to the hospital after returning to Kano from a trip to Abuja, was in the hospital to sympathize with the victims.

According to him, “for the avoidance of any doubt, the incendiarism that led to the death of 15 out of the 24 victims was neither politically motivated nor a terrorist attack on the residents of the state.
He further explained that investigations have confirmed that the incident happened as a result of a rift between family members over inheritance.
Recall that last week, the suspect, Shafi’u Abubakar trapped the worshippers inside the mosque before setting the mosque ablaze after spreading petrol.
Police reports in Kano confirmed that Abubakar turned himself in after committing the crime that hospitalized all 23 of the victims.

The governor also promised to support the surviving victims, adding that the state government will leave no stone unturned until justice is served against the alleged perpetrator.
He also donated N100,000 to each of the victims.
