The road, with a total length of 82.3Km was awarded by the federal government to ease transportation within the axis and enhance transportation of farm products from rural areas to markets.
One of the Community leaders, Alhaji Abdullahi Kanye in a telephone interview with The Punch on Tuesday, said the call was necessary in order to ascertain the reasons why the contractor abandoned the project halfway.
Kanye said the call was necessary in order to find out reasons why the contractor, CGC Nigeria Ltd. abandoned the work without any concrete reason.

“We still remember when the former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Dr. Babangida Husaini said at the flag-off that the road would be completed within 24 months. This is August and two months behind schedule,” Kanye said.
According to him, the communities living along the road were extremely happy with Sen. Jibrin because the project was part of his campaign promises, but the same road had been abandoned while the contractor had disappeared into thin air.
“As Iam talking to you now flood has washed away some parts of the road and the contractor had taken away all his working equipment.
“We also want the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibril, who is representing Kano North, to visit the site to inspect the level of work done by the contractor. If the project is completed, it will be to his credit,” Kanye said.

The communities, however, called on the Federal Government to ensure completion of the dualisation of the road which linked Kano with four other states and Niger Republic, to boost socio-economic activities across the four states and beyond.
The road was initially constructed during the administration of military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and had never witnessed any major rehabilitation or reconstruction until now.
