Kano: 13 arrested persons ‘not Boko Haram members’, families cryout

The families of the arrested 13 suspected Boko Haram members in Kano have said their loved ones are ‘not members of Boko Haram group’.

They alledged that those arrested by the Military during a raid at Hotoro quarters are genuine businessmen and students who have been in Kano for quite a long time.

Recall that troops of the 3 Brigade of Nigerian Army Kano had on Saturday evening arrested 13 suspected Boko Haram members at Hotoro area in Kano metropolis.

The Spokesman of the families, Abdullahi Ali made the clarification while addressing a news conference in Kano today.

According to him, all those arrested have no connection whatsoever with the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists group.

“For example one of the arrested persons, Alhaji Usman is the representative of Sheik Ibrahim Saleh who is a renowned Islamic Scholar in Maiduguri,” he said.

He said after the Military stormed his House after searching the place and they found nothing, the same person asked the Security to proceed to his other house where they still didn’t find anything, but still they arrested him.

“Another Person who operates a Chemist at the area is a Master’s student at BUK and he had nothing to do with the Boko Haram membership,” the spokesman of the families said.

He, therefore, called on the military to hasten their investigation on the 13 arrested suspects with a view to taking them to court for possible prosecution.

“We are praying that our brothers will be taken to court after investigation so that justice will be done,” he said.
