Hunger: Elders Warns Politicians Against Unguarded Statements

Date:

A group under the aegis of Patriotic Elders for Peace and Unity has expressed concern over persistent provocative statements by some politicians and people who claimed to be Analysts.

The President of the group, Dr. Bature AbdulAziz, who stated this shortly after an emergency meeting in Kano on Friday, said such comments are capable of creating chaos and uncertainty in the country

“It is highly disheartening at this period that Nigerians are supposed to exhibit patriotism, some disgruntled elements are busy trying to cause civil unrest.

“One cannot comprehend the actual missions of some politicians who are making comments that could lead to treasonable felony because some government’s policies that allegedly caused unintended hardship.”

He cautioned Nigerians to disregard such people, lamenting that they don’t mean well for the country.

“Why such politicians and the so-called analysts failed to understand that there is recession globally? But despite the hardship, in many countries, the opposition never make inflammatory comments that will instigate the public to oppose government.

“In most of the developed countries, people are facing similar economic difficulties, but people are supporting the Governments to get out of the situations.

“Nigeria politicians should borrow a leaf from those countries and try to be patriotic so that with their efforts we can bail ourselves from the current economic hardships,” he said.

The elders, who expressed optimism that things  would soon be normal, appealed Nigerians to exercise little patience with present administration.
