The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, safeguarding lives and property, and strengthening security across the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, a copy of which was made available to The Punch on Friday.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf made the declaration on Thursday during the opening ceremony of the North-West Zonal Conference of Directors of the Department of State Services, First Quarter 2026, held in Kano.
While describing the conference as timely and strategic, Governor Yusuf said the gathering provides a vital platform for enhancing collaboration among security agencies, exchanging ideas, and developing proactive measures to address emerging security challenges through coordinated dialogue and intelligence sharing.
“As one of the most populous and cosmopolitan states in Nigeria, hence the reason why the state government places a high premium on security and social stability. Insecurity in neighboring states often has far-reaching implications for the entire North-West region,” the governor said.
He emphasized the importance of sustained synergy among security and intelligence agencies in combating criminal activities across state borders, while commending the professionalism, resilience, and commitment of security personnel working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in Kano State.
Governor Yusuf further highlighted his administration’s sustained investment in the security sector, including the upgrade and enhancement of security equipment earlier procured for the Department of State Services and other security agencies operating within the state.
He also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its continued support and commitment toward strengthening the nation’s security architecture.
The Governor reaffirmed the readiness of his administration to continue providing the necessary logistical support and enabling environment required for security agencies to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
