Communities living along Kano- Gwarzo-Dayi road have praised Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, for facilitating the approval of additional N19 billion for the resumption of construction work on the Kano- Gwarzo-Dayi road abandoned over three years ago.
Recall that Senator Barau who recently announced the approval of the funds in his verified Facebook page, stated that the approval aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises the delivery of quality infrastructure with direct impact on communities across the country.

Barau who is the representing Kano North Senatorial Zone, explained that the approval followed his meeting with the Deputy Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited, Mr. Lv Haiming, in Abuja, where final issues surrounding the stalled project were resolved.
A resident of Rimin Gado town along the road , Malam Lawan Bala told The Punch on Thursday in a telephone interview that contractors had already returned to site, expressing happiness over the development.
“I want to tell you that residents of this area are happy to see that work on the road has resumed after over three years of abandonment. We are really happy to see the contractors back on site,” he said.
Bala commended Senator Barau for his efforts to bring the project as well as facilitating the release of the additional funds for completing the road project which was abandoned halfway.
“We have to thank Senator Barau for this singular act because it’s part of his constituency project,” Bala said.

Another resident of the area, Sani Sulaiman commended the Federal Government for approving additional funds for completing the abandoned road project.
“We are really grateful to the Federal Government for considering the road in view of its strategic and economic importance to the communities living along the road.
“Besides the economic importance of this road, it links Kano State with Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States and even the neighbouring Niger Republic.
“There is no doubt when completed, the road will not only boost socio-economic activities across the four states and beyond, but will go a long way in enhancing security among the various communities living along the route especially during night journeys,” Sulaiman noted.
He, however, urged the contractor handling the project to execute a good job as motorists plying the road had suffered for a long time on the road.

Recall that the Federal Government on Thursday, 11th June, 2021 flagged off the construction of dual carriageway from Kano to Dayi town in Katsina state awarded then at the cost of N62.7bn, but regrettably the work had stopped over three years ago.
The Single Road Kano-Gwarzo- Dayi road which was to be reconstructed into a dual carriageway with a total length of about 100Km, was awarded by the Federal Government with the aim of easing transportation within the axis and enhancing the easy movement of farm products from rural areas to various markets across the neighboring states.
