Jatau said that the state government was aware of the current situation and the challenges being faced by farmers during the raining season.
“This year, we have experienced scanty and erratic raining season and flood on River Benue troughs as a result of which there will be yields from the farms.

“The only option left to us now is to take advantage of the opportunity given by the state and the federal government to support dry season farmers with inputs, such as seeds, fertilisers and agri-chemicals at subsidised rates,” he said.
Jatau urged more people to key in to dry season farming, especially in rice, wheat and maize.
He also cautioned farmers and herders to be mindful of their dealings in order to avoid any crisis.

The commissioner urged all traditional and religious leaders to advise their subjects against any form of trouble, adding that they should learn to live in peace with one another.
“Farmers should not be in haste to dispose off what they got from their harvests, because there is looming food insecurity in the near future.” he said.
