The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero is to complete this year’s Sallah Durbar today with Hawan Fanisau, a procession from Emir’s palace to Fanisau village.
Fanisau is a village located few kilometers away from the Kano city.
Hawan Fanisau is the third traditional processions being performed by the Emir during Eid-el Fitr after Hawan Idi and Hawan Nasarawa respectively.
The Hawan Idi is a short procession performed by the Emir from the palace to the Eid-el prayer ground, while Hawan Nasarawa is a procession to the state Government House where the emir will meet with the governor and other top government officials.
However, on his way to the Government House during Hawan Nasarawa procession, the emir normally stopover at Gidan Nasarawa to pray for his forefathers who were buried there.
On the day of Hawan Fanisau, the Emir and his entourage will ride their horses in a colorful procession and move from the Emir’s palace to Fanisau village.
According to the tradition, the Emir and his entourage will spend hours at Gidan Sarki in Fanisau. While in Fanisau, the Emir will settle in his palace and received homage from his district heads and other traditional tittle holders.
After the traditional greetings by district head and other traditional title holders, the emir will set down in his palace and performs his functions as emir.
Later in the evening, the Emir and other horse riders will embark on a journey back to the palace in a stylish procession.
Daily Telescope observed that the procession is always being adorned by traditional drummers and singers who attracted onlookers by their dancing and singing throughout the procession.
The Hawan Fanisau is usually ends at Sunset largely due to the heavy presence of people during the procession.
Once the Emir enters the royal house, all the district heads and other horse riders will also set down from their horses and that marks the end of the Eid-el Fitr annual Durbar.
