He said there was a need for politicians who are enjoying jumbo salaries to voluntarily consider significant slashing of their jumbo pay.
“We understand that the basis for the huge demand of N494,000 by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress is because of the jumbo pay to politicians especially members of the National and State
Assemblies.
“Politicians should lead by example through voluntarily conceding to a slashing from take-away home. We advocate this kind of practice from those enjoying these jumbo payments due to the economic situation of our country.

“The Patriotic Volunteers hereby make bold to say that it is high time to drastically reduce cost of governance, generally for the fact that it drains too much our common wealth and therefore call for review across the board, “ he said.
The group, who described the demand by labour leaders as most unfair and insensitive to the current economic realities of the nation, called on the union to accept the N60,000 offered by the Federal Government to prevent job losses through massive retrenchment.
“We observed that the labour’s demand of N494, 000 minimum wage is unattainable and unsustainable in all sense of fairness and decorum as it translates into whooping N9.5 trillion as per the Minister of Labour’s presentation”, Alhaji said.

The group, therefore, called on the labour leaders to consider the fate of other Nigerians and the attendant repercussions, economically and socially in the interest of justice and fair play.
“The implication of the NLC and TUC excessive demand will not address our problems but rather aggravate issues by way of hyperinflation and stagflation,” Alhaji added.
