Coalition Of Ulama Condemns Killing Of 18 Nigerian Muslim Pilgrims In Burkina Faso

The Coalition of Ulama and Islamic Organizations in Kano state has condemned in strongest terms the recent killings of 18 Nigerian Muslim pilgrims of Tijjaniyya by gunmen in Burkina Faso and called for immediate arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of the dastardly act.

A statement by Dr. Sa’idu Ahmad Dukawa on behalf of the coalition, said the forum also condemned the murder of more than 41 vigilantes by terrorists in Katsina State and urged the Federal Government to enhance security across the country.

It prayed to Almighty God to grant all the deceased Aljanna Firdaus and their families the emotional strength to bear the irreparable loss.

“This forum condemns in the strongest terms, the killing of 18 Nigerian Muslim pilgrims in Burkina Faso and the murder of more than 41 vigilantes in Katsina State.

“We call on the Federal Government to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators,” the statement said.

“At an emergency meeting on Monday, 6th February 2023, the meeting reviewed the prevailing situation in the country and resolved to expressed its concern over the killings of innocent people in Burkina Faso and in Bakori local government area of Katsina State,” it said.

The forum also expressed great concern over the scarcity of fuel and new naira notes and warned banks managers against hoarding the new notes.

It, however, urged bank managers and operators/owners of POS to conduct their business with utmost fear of God and above all avoid acts capable of inflicting more hardships on the Nigerian masses as a result of the new naira notes.

“We are also calling on politicians fear Allah and desist from conniving with banks in order to achieve their self centred interest.

“We are equally urging the CBN to increase the amount of the new naira notes being given to commercial banks for onward disbursement to customers.

“The banks should symphatize with the masses to enable them access the new naira notes to reduce their sufferings,” the forum said.
