…She is neither arrested nor detained by EFCC—KNSG
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the wife of the Kano state Governor, Dr Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday following her refusal to honor the commission’s invitation.
The Kano first lady was invited by the anti-graft agency to report to its headquarters in Abuja on September 13 for questioning over allegation of bribery and land fraud, but she refused to honor the invitation.
Gwaggo, as she is fondly called in Kano was dragged to the EFCC by her elder son, Abdulazeez Abdullahi Ganduje over alleged bribery and land fraud which her son wrote against her.
The wife of the governor, Daily Telescope learnt, was grilled for few hours on Monday evening before she was released on the agreement that she would report to the commission anytime she is needed.
However, in his reaction, the state’s Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba dispelled the story, describing it as mere rumours being peddled by mischief makers.
Garba expressed regrets that the content of the unfounded story could not be attributed to any credible source such as the purported arresting agency, the EFCC.
The commissioner pointed out that “most unfortunately, the fake story is being peddled on social media platforms without confirmation from either the government or the EFCC.
“The governor’s wife has not been arrested or detained by the EFCC and she is presently discharging her responsibilities
The commissioner called on the good people of Kano state to disregard the rumours and also remain calm.
