The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has pledged to sponsor training of 1,000 youths on Generative AI in the Northwestern region of Nigeria.

Mr. Kalu made the promise on Sunday in Kano during the graduation ceremony of 2,000 youths, who were trained in various skills by an NGO in Kano, Better Life for Children and Women Future Foundation.

The Deputy Speaker said the gesture was aimed at supporting the foundation in carrying out its activities after a fundraising session at the event.

In his speech, Mr Kalu noted that youths are progressive and have the potential to bring the desired revolution in the country.

“When a youth is equipped with essential skills, he or she can utilize them to feed, assist others, and even invest for future use, aiding the nation economically. This will in-turn contribute to the increase in employability and add to the GDP of the nation.

“When the youth are empowered, they empower the masses, thereby paving the path for a better future. To build a better tomorrow, we need to nurture the youth of today.

“Empowerment ensures that youth has the necessary skill to sustain a livelihood, preventing them from adopting the path of crime,” he said.

On his part, Mr Danpullo, the representative of the Deputy Speaker, donated N5 million to the foundation and 20 pieces of laptop to the 20 beneficiaries that were trained on e-commerce.

In her remarks, the founder of the foundation, Sameera Abubakar said apart from graduation of the 2,000 beneficiaries, additional 2,000 youths were inaugurated to commence their set of training.

She said the beneficiaries were trained on various skills including solar installation, tailoring, catering and make-up, among others.
