Your invitation not formal, Governor Yusuf replies Ganduje

Date:

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has reacted to the invitation extended to him by the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje calling on him and others to join the party.

Yusuf who spoke through his Spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the invitation was informal, did not follow the right channel and therefore has not officially reached him neither will be entertained.

It was reported that Ganduje after a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC in Kano on Thursday said the meeting resolved to open the party’s doors to others who want to join the ruling party and asked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to abandon the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC.

He said, “We are appealing to those who want join APC to come. In particular, we are inviting the Governor of Kano and his NNPP to join APC.”

Ganduje said APC is making frantic move to ensure Kano remains a one party state with largest and formidable members that will determine the future of political dimension in Nigeria

”To build a solid and formidable party with followers APC must open its doors widely to accept members from the oppositions. APC is working to build a one-party state and that is why we are inviting the Governor of Kano and all the supporters of NNPP to join APC”. Ganduje noted.

But reacting, the Governor said, “We heard Ganduje on social media platforms begging for the Governor to join the APC, but what is surprising is Ganduje as a former governor and former Deputy Governor knows better than anyone the right channel to send a message to a sitting Governor.

”As for whether the Governor will join APC, I can confirm to you that my boss has not  decided to leave his party the NNPP for APC yet. Let me repeat, the Governor has not decided to joining APC for now”. Sanusi noted.

“Changing a political party is like changing a house, you just cannot wake up, pack your bags and say I have left my party. There are things to be done before you decide to change your house,” he explained.
