The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council, has inaugurated a nine-member Committee for ethics and disciplinary.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Mai Zare during its congress held at the sectariate of of the union in Gusau state.
Comrade Maizare, said journalism plays a key role in purifying political affairs and ways of managing the work of the government.
He expressed dismay how the ethics of journalism are now being compromised, which is a threat to the reputation of the profession.
According to him, this mandated the state council to inaugurated the Ethics and Disciplinary committee to address this problem, and come up with a way to sanitize the Journalism profession in the state.
The Chairman, said the members
of the committee were carefully selected as they are veteran journalits who worked and left a legacy in the profession.
Maizare also called on men of the Pen Profession to give the Committee maximum corporation to enable its members discharge their assigned responsibilities diligently.
He stated that, within four months of their stewardship they were able to record some achievements which include overhauling the Council’s vehicle and furnishing offices at the Press Centre.
The NUJ state Chairman also commended the state government for the establishment of Gold City FM and the rehabilitation of Zamfara State Radio.
He appealed to all members of the union to maintain active participation in all union activities for its development.
