The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Similarly, the Emir of Karaye, His Royal Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz, has been appointed as the Deputy Amirul Hajj.
This was contained in a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.
The statement added that the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board is expected to provide maximum support to Amirul Hajj and his deputy to ensure smooth and successful operations.
The government also wished Amirul Hajj, his deputy, the management and staff of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board a successful Hajj exercise, praying that all pilgrims perform accepted Hajj and return home safely.
Recall Governor Yusuf had donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each of the pilgrims, a way of showing concern to the plights of the pilgrims at the Holy land.
The airlift of the pilgrims from Kano State is expected to commence on Thursday, 14th May 2026 by the Max Air.
