2023: Lamido, Turaki are beatable giant in Jigawa—Farouk Adamu

Date:

A gubernatorial aspirant in Jigawa state, under the platform of All Progressives Congress, Farouk Adamu-Aliyu, has boasted that two former governors of the state, Sule Lamido and Saminu Turaki, are giant, but can be beaten in election.

Adamu- Aliyu stated this at a press conference to declare his intention to contest for governorship in the ruling APC in the state, held in Dutse, Jigawa on Wednesday.

Mr Lamido, who commands leadership in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, in Jigawa, had anointed his biological son, Mustapha Lamido to vie for the gubernatorial seat in the state in the party.

Also, Mr Turaki, who governed the state from 1999-2007, under the PDP, had recently returned to the party from APC.

However, Aliyu said the two former governors would not be a threat to him if given the mandate to fly the APC’s flag in the 2023 governorship election.

According to him, “There is no doubt the fact that Sule Lamido and Saminu Turaki are two political giants in Jigawa state.

“Whoever said Lamido and Turqki are nobody in Jigawa politics is deceiving himself.

“However, despite their political prowess, that does not rule out the fact that they are beatable. I shall beat them if I grab the APC ticket in this state,” he said.

The former lawmaker, also disclosed that in 2019 he stepped down for some aspirants, adding that this time around he would not step down for anyone among the eight other aspirants.

On his plans for the state, the former lawmaker promised to give priority attention to agriculture to boost socio-economic status of the common man.

“We intend to provide many interventions including supply of subsided fertilizer, improved seedlings and small machineries.

“We are also aware that the state has high mortality and morbidity rate particularly among women and children.

“To address the challenges,my government if given the mandate, shall devise various means of exploiting its potentials to make the necessary improvement for effective and efficient healthcare delivery services in the state,” he said.
