At least sixteen people were rescued alive following the collapse of a building at Dan Dinshe, Kwanar Yashi in Fagge local government area of Kano state.
Three of the victims were rescued unconscious.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.
“The Kano State Fire Service wishes to inform the general public that at about 4:32 am. Today Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Service’s Emergency Response Unit, received an emergency call from one of our staff Aminu Sani Warure, reporting the collapse of a building at Dan Dinshe, Kwanar Yashi, Fagge Local Government Area.
“Upon receiving the report, men of the Service from the Headquarters were immediately mobilized to the scene. On arrival, they discovered that a residential building of about 20 × 30 ft had collapsed,” the statement said.
According to the statement, alll the victims were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, the brother of their father, for further necessary attention.
The statement said investigation was currently ongoing to find out the cause of the incident.
“The Kano State Fire Service urges members of the public to observe all necessary safety precautions, particularly during the rainy season, to prevent similar incidents,” the statement added.
