A popular Kannywood actress, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, is dead.
The news of her passing away was confirmed on Tuesday by a Kano-based private FM radio station.
According to the Radio station, her funeral prayer will be held at 4:00 pm.
However, the cause of her death was still unclear at the time of filing this report.
Saratu Daso, before her career in the film industry spanning 18 years, was said to be a school teacher.
Her versatility shone through as she also appeared in English-language films, showcasing her talent across different genres.
As one of the pioneers of the Hausa movie industry, Daso was known for her compelling portrayal of maternal figures on screen.
Her remarkable acting prowess garnered her numerous accolades throughout her career, solidifying her status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
Saratu Gidado’s legacy will continue to inspire aspiring actors and entertain audiences for many years to come.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary, Kano State Censorship Board. Alhaji Abba El-mustapha has expressed his grief over the death of popular kannywood actor and a philanthropist Hajiya Saratu gidado (Daso).
In a statement by the Information Officer of the board, Abdullahi Sulaiman,
El-mustapha described her death as a great loss not only to her immediate family and kannywood industry but to the entire Muslim ummah.
He said, “May the Almighty Allah orgive all her shortcomings and jannatul firdaus be her final abode.
He also prays to Almighty Allah to give her family and the industry the fortitude to bear the great loss.
